Surrounded by copper, the measurement window for a piggyback fluorometer affixed to Barkley Benthic Pod 4 appears to have survived the past 9 months at the seafloor very well. Copper is used as an anti-biofouling substance, as microbes do not easily grow in close proximity to copper.
