The British RRS Ernest Shackleton icebreaker is in Cambridge Bay along with two helicopters to assess ice conditions. The Serenity is outfitted with a forward-looking sonar, searchlights and a navigation system that displays near real-time satellite ice imagery. The RRS Ernest Shackleton will escort the luxury cruise liner Crystal Serenity to Cambridge Bay as part of its Arctic journey starting from Alaska through the Northwest Passage.
