Octopus and large crabs seen near the ODP 889 instrument platform, 10 May 2010 (dive r1314). Depth: 1258 m. Lat: 48°40.2387' N, Lon: 126°50.8832' W.

The ODP 889 instrument platform seems to provide attractive habitat for bottom dwellers such as the four crabs and one octopus seen here. This platform was retrieved by ROPOS to ship, and replaced by a replacement platform on 9 May 2010.
