On Wednesday, October 7, 2015, visiting scientist Tom Kwasnitschka delivered a discussion, at Vancouver Aquarium, on his work with hydrothermal vents at the Endeavour site, entitled: "A Virtual Walk on the Seabed - how digital technologies help us understand the ocean floor."

Dr. Tom Kwasnitschka is a visiting scholar at Ocean Networks Canada. He received his PhD in Geology from the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, Germany, and has been a researcher at the Geomar Helmholtz-Zentrum für Ozeanforschung Kiel since 2007. His research focuses on robotic exploration of deep ocean environments, particularly in the field of volcanology of seamounts, very deep explosive volcanism, and the evolution of hydrothermal edifices as they rapidly change over time.
