Remotely operated vehicle ROPOS holds floats used to suspend the water sampler above Grotto hydrothermal vent. This instrument is anchored in place by a heavy weight, and connected to a collection lid and tubing, which allow sampling of water from below, with minimal disturbance to hydrothermal vent communities. The sampler was recovered to ship on 18 May 2014.
